Ep 238 From Vintage Seller to Artisanal Manufacturer: Is Ritwik Khanna India’s Most Promising New Designer?

R|ElanTM Circular Design Challenge in partnership with the United Nations in India brings you a circular fashion mini-series with the chart-topping podcast, The Wardrobe Crisis, featuring an insightful conversation with Ritwik Khanna of Rkive City.

THE WARDROBE CRISIS is a sustainable fashion platform that stands for a fairer, greener, cleaner fashion future that respects people and planet and recognises the power of dialogue, listening and learning. The chart-topping podcast launched in July 2017 is now in its 11th series. Each week, host Clare Press interviews designers, change-makers, academics, creatives and fashion insiders about fashion, ethics, social justice and environmental sustainability.

In this episode, Ritwik talks about his his process and the Winner’s showcase at  R|Elan™ Circular Design Challenge at Lakme Fashion Week, but also dignified work, what people don’t realise about the second-hand and waste textile supply chain in India, and ultimately – what makes a good life.

“I believe India is going to play a huge part in the neo-clean manufacturing wave of fashion. India has always predominantly been a manufacturing country, but I think post-COVID, people have become more well informed about what they consume and how. I also think we’re at a headspace when we’re learning from the past and then looking to the future.”
